OUR STORY
Drills, dances, rock shows, and now restaurant. The Armory is part of Burlington's history.
Before it was a restaurant, 101 Main was a state armory, a WPA project, and the stage where a generation of Vermont musicians got their start. We kept the bones — the brick, the tall windows, the big open room — and filled it back up with people.
1904
An Armory for the Guard
Former Vermont governor Urban Woodbury builds the Vermont National Guard Armory on Main Street. A big addition follows in 1907.
1930s
The New Deal touch
The Works Progress Administration puts Vermonters to work improving the building — one more layer of local hands in these walls.
1977
Hunt's turns it up
For a decade, Hunt's is the heart of Burlington's music scene — the place unknown Vermont bands got discovered. Later came Sha-Na-Na's.

Back to gathering
Restored in 2015, the armory holds the Armory Grille & Bar upstairs and the Vermont Comedy Club below. The music's back, too.
